THE CAUSE |
|
| |
At present, there are nearly 2 million HIV/Aids orphans in Uganda. It is estimated there will be 8 to 10 million orphans in 10 years, the result of currently infected parents succumbing to the disease. The average Ugandan family has 7 children. UOF relies solely on donations and contributions to fund the construction of these children's homes. It costs about $20,000 to complete an orphan home for 50-60 children, including beds, latrine, and kitchen. We are presently involved with approximately 25 projects throughout Uganda, many of which we have partnered with other organizations.
Frequently, we act as a “general partner” and see to the ongoing care and support of the children once the home has been built. At other times, we act as part of a non-profit “syndicate” and assist with some financing only. Often, we have acted as the builder in a partnership, leaving the continuing support to another organization. We attempt to remain flexible so we can best meet the needs of the rescued orphans in each unique situation.
The basic motivation for UOF was, and remains, LOVE. Help us rescue, nurture, and love Uganda's future leaders. For more information, please contact us.
